Top Irish celebrity Ronan Keating made an eight year old Belfast girl feel like a 'little star' when he took time out from his marathon walk to spend time with her this week. Laura Sloan, from the west of the city, suffers from bone cancer and has spent the last 15 months off school. Recently, she travelled to Birmingham for surgery, where she had some bone from her leg transferred to her arm. But the brave little girl managed a big smile this week when she met her pop idol Ronan Keating.
The Dublin singer, whos undertaking a walk of Ireland to raise money for cancer awareness, met up with Laura at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. He spent time chatting to her and her mum and afterwards praised her as a, "brave little girl." Jean Walsh of Cancer Research said: "Laura came to our attention through our little star programme when she was ill in hospital and we thought it would be lovely for her to meet Ronan. He was lovely with her and she seemed delighted to meet him."
