From now magazine
Pop star Ronan Keating and wife Yvonne, 31, are celebrating the birth of their 3rd baby girl. But despite his joy the former BZ front-man admits that fatherhood can be a difficult experience too.
Little Ali Keating, who was born on 7th of September weighing in at a healthy 8lb 3oz is the second girl to join the Keating brood. Her big sister Marie is 4 and their older brother Jack is 6.
Speaking to NOW in Dublin, Ronan said: "We're both incredibly happy and we're not ruling out having more. Yvonne was in labour for 5 hours, but she was so brave". But as the Keatings embark upon another chapter of their lives, the 28 year old Irish star admits that the world's troubled political climate worries him. Recording obligations and touring mean the chart topper often spends time away from his family but says he'd give up his career tomorrow for them. "My family are the most important thing, he says. "myself and Yvonne are very happy and blessed with beautiful and healthy kids who make it all feel real. "It's very normal and relaxed when I come home, not like the Osborne's or anything. My children are my biggest inspiration and I'd do anything for them. We all live in a volatile time. War is all around us - you can see it and feel it in the air. Sometimes when I'm travelling I worry about whether I'll get home to my kids. I want to do everything I can to protect my children from the world. The worry begins as soon as you become a parent. I'd give it all up for them if I had to."
Ronan posed happily for photographers outside Dublin's private Mount Carmel Hospital after Ali's birth, but aside from that the star refused to appear with his family in magazines. "I don't do photo shoots with the kids, he says. "I have a duty to protect them until they are old enough to protect themselves. I made a mistake when Jack was born by doing a photo shoot, but luckily he was a baby and now doesn't look anything like he did then.' He explains "I finished the shoot and was well paid for it, but I felt really bad. I felt that I had let him down and that really hurt me. I'd never do anything like that again."
Ronan's family are a vital part of his work life too - particularly when it comes to getting their opinions on new songs. "I've been taking the songs to Yvonne first," he admits. "Sometimes she might not like them and sometimes we argue about them. I'll say: "What do you mean you don't like it?" And she'll say: "You know, it's just my opinion Ro," and of course I'll be like:
"F...." Its hard. "The kids, on the other hand just love everything I do!"
