BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: Friends in Time
31/5/2006
With Bring You Home out in the UK next Monday, Ronan has given us an insight into each track on the new album.
Track one is "Friends In Time":
Ronan: I remember this song growing up in Ireland. It was written and recorded by the "Golden Horde" and was a big hit back home, but never really eard it anywhere else. I've always thought it would be a great song to record and was really happy when I got the blessing of the original writer Simon Carmody, who loves this new version. Janet Ramus blows me away with her vocal and it's just a great song to kick off the album. I can't wait to play it live with my band.

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: This I promise you
1/6/2006
I sat down with Paul Barry to write the ultimate wedding song. We trashed around for days with loads of ideas and then all of a sudden this song came out of the madness.
I think it really captures that amazing feeling when you stand there on your wedding day and promise yourself to another.
I hope it can become an "our song" for loads of couples over the years

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: All over again
02.06.06
Track three is "All Over Again":
A publisher friend of mine turned me on to this song and I just fell in love with it straight away. There are some songs that you know are going to be special from the moment you start working on them and this is one of those.
I've been a fan of Kate Rusby's voice for a good while and, though I had never met her, I asked her to join me on this track. I wasn't sure if she'd say 'yes' as it is a little bit away from the 'folk' style that she is known for. When she started singing the song for the first time in the studio the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and this feeling remains with me every time we sing this song together.

Track-by-track: Iris
03.06.06
Track four is "Iris":
I met John Rzeznik in New York a couple of years ago and told him then that I'd like to cover this song. It's just one of those great songs that will stick around forever. I just shot the video for this song in Dubai which was an amazing experience and I hope people are going to be blown away by it.

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: To be loved04.06.06
Track five is "To Be Loved":
I've been lucky to record some great songs with Steve Mac and Wayne Hector through my career and this is another very special song. I asked Jamie Cullum if he would play piano for me and I was amazed when he said he would. Jamie is a brilliant musician and a good friend and I am indebted to him for doing such an amazing job on this track. We haven't performed the song together live as yet but I know that it will be a very special moment whenwe do some day.

Track-by-track: Superman
05.06.06
Track six is "Superman":
I'm really proud of this track that I wrote with Paul Barry down at Metrophonic. It's a very personal lyric and I think any man will be able to relate to it. 'I'm no Superman but I'll love you the best I can'...what more can you do?!!

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: So easy loving you
06.06.06
Today, Ronan chats about track seven on Bring you home, So easy loving you.
So easy loving you Every album should have a great "driving" song. I recorded this in the middle of winter but I still had to get in the car, put the window down and crank it up as I drove home that night. It's a great song to sing and I know that I will never get tired of playing this song live.

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: Back in the backseat
07.06.06
Today, Ronan reveals everything about track eight on Bring You Home, Back in the Backseat.
Back in the Backseat Some people will probably think this is a bit of a curve ball as the feel of this track is pretty different for me. I just love the vibe of the song though. I think it's got the same spirit as "Rollercoaster" and "Loving each day", so I hope that people get off on it as much as they did with those songs.

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: Bring you home 08.06.06
Read on to discover what Ronan thinks about the album track "Bring you home"
Bring You Home
This song kind of wrote itself one day when I was working with Paul Barry and Mark Taylor at Metrophobic. It's weird how some songs take a lot of hard work and other just seem to come out of nowhere. I've always loved travelling and I've been lucky enough to go to some amazing places but it's sometimes hard when I've got to leave my wife and children behind. I guess this song came from that feeling that any parent has when they're away from their kids for a while.
The Metrophobic guys and me are big Beatles fans so Mark really went to town
on the production and has done an amazing job - I love it!

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: Hello Again
09.06.06
Track ten on the album is Hello Again - find out what Ronan thinks about it...
Hello Again
Being the youngest in my family I grew up listening to lots of different music than my parents, sister and brothers all played around the house. I don't know when I heard Neil Diamond's original of this song but when I listen to it now it feels like I've known it forever. It's just a classic song, simple as that and I hope that everyone will think that I've done it justice.

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: Just when I'd given up dreaming
10.06.06
Find out what Ronan said about track eleven on the album "Just when I'd given up dreaming"
Just when I'd given up dreaming
One of the first writing trips I went on for this album was to work with Richard Marx in Chicago. I spent three great days writing in his studio on the shore of Lake Michigan and this beautiful song came from that session. I was a huge fan of as a teenager so it was mad to be sitting there writing with him.
There are times in my life when I think I'm a lucky fecker and this was one of them!

BRING YOU HOME
Track-by-track: (We just need) Time
11.06.06
In the final part of our track-by-track interview with Ronan, he reveals his thoughts on (We just need) Time.
(We just need) Time
Greg Alexander and I have a very special working relationship. He's completely nuts but I love him for that. We wrote this along with my keyboard player, James McNally, in my studio, at my place in Ireland. Everytime I work with Greg, I end up with loads of great stories and also some stunning songs. I know we'll write more and more over the coming years and I hope that we manage to come up with more songs like this...
we just need time, babe!
